Thursday Thoughts

January 24th, 2013

Today we learned about ISO and white balance. It was quite confusing until we got to try it out for ourselves. ISO, the boring dictionary definition, is the camera's sensitivity to light. The lower your light source is, the higher your ISO should be. You have to be careful with the ISO. If you have it too high, your photographs will have a lot of noise. A good range of ISO would be somewhere between 400-800. You want to keep a low ISO. White balance, I found out, has an indoor and outdoor kind of setting. If your white balance has an outdoor setting while shooting indoors, your picture will come out yellowish. If you have an indoor setting while shooting outside, your picture will have a blueish look to it. I had to try it out for myself just to finally understand it!
