Landscape & Nature Assignment

November 17th 2012 at Eagle Creek Trail, Oregon. ISO: 3200 Aperture: F/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/100
This picture wasn't too difficult to shoot. I used the bridge to keep the camera stable, but I had to be very cautious about the rain not getting the camera wet!

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 400 Aperture: F/7.1 Shutter Speed: 1/4000 I had a little bit of trouble editing this image because I took it standing under a tree and the bottom of the photo it was dark while the sky was bright. I think I fixed it pretty well.

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 400 Aperture: F/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/25 I had no trouble with this photo. I think I did a good job editing it so the colors would stand out more.

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 400 Aperture: F/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/60 I had fun shooting this photo. The ducks sort of modeled for me, and I love how I edited the colors of the duck that you wouldn't normally notice.

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 400 Aperture: F/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/320 I like how I edited the image so the orange leaves would bring out the green of the flower more.

November 17th 2012 Eagle Creek Trail, Oregon. ISO: 3200 Aperture: F/5.0 Shutter Speed: 1/250 It was a little hard to edit this picture just because there wasn't much color and I tried to bring out what I could. I also didn't want to fall into the river!

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 800 Aperture: F/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/4000 The only problem I had editing this image was that there was a blue glow that would outline the tree, but luckily I fixed it!

November 25th 2012 Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Oregon. ISO: 400 Aperture: F/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/320 I didn't have trouble at all with the photo and I feel that I did a good job editing the colors so that they would show contrast.

November 17th 2012 Eagle Creek Trail, Oregon. ISO: 3200 Aperture: F/5.0 Shutter Speed: 1/50 I liked how I exposed the photo more and the only trouble when shooting was that the rain wouldn't get the camera wet.

  1. What I thought was really awesome was how the color, texture, contrast etc. were really "well done". Light and all was perfectly fine and the alignment was good. For the critic part: some of them could be cropped a bit, watch out for any little "awkward" spots in the picture. Overall it was magnificent! ^~^

  2. Aylin, I thought you had really good focus in all of your pictures and all your photos had nice color to them. However, I think you could work on exposure next time, so you don't have to work so hard to get the lighting right in Lightroom when you edit.

  3. Wow, Where do I start.
Kudos to you for getting such a good shot of the duck. The colors, the lighting, the angle, the composition, Th patience it must of took, ALL were spot on. Very good job. You can tell you have a strong eye for texture especially in your last one. Only thing though, was that I think you could be a little more careful with your lighting in some of them. Photos 4 and 7 seemed a little overexposed.

  4. Okay. So my favourite is the duck one. I love how you got every detail of every feather. And the colours of the duck just blew me away. I also like the sparkly water. I didn't know water could sparkle in photographs. I think that the last one could be a little more exposed, and the leaves in the second to last one look slightly yellow - but I'm not sure if they're supposed to be yellow green leaves so yeah. Other than that your photos are phenomenal.

  5. Pro: You have great quality and eye for water shots . Amazing aspect of the duck and keeping it clear and the main focus of the photo.
Con: some photos your color was boosted up too much and added a lot that didn't really need to be there. Most photos there is too much going on and your eyes are never just focused on one point.

  6. I really appreciate the artistic approach you take to your shooting. You can tell they were very well thought out and and that really shines through. I think composition is one of your strengths. I might suggest being more adventurous with your perspectives.

  8. Aylin I loved all your photographs they made me feel happy and excited to see more of your work. You were every creative through the whole process and I think that just bringing our just that little blue in the duck just made all the difference. When your taking pictures always make sure that they are all straight and that they are not so clear that they become grainy. :)
